“If you want to understand function, study structure."—Francis Crick
This is one of a series of articles about ParaGov, what it stands for, and how it can create freedom for you, your family, and your community. ParaGov promotes a more evolved form of self-governance through decentralized communities that are based on voluntary transactions.

We don’t have to accept the status quo by dealing with corrupt governments. Instead, we can redesign and replace broken government structures to return power to “We the People.”
So how do we design something better?
Francis Crick’s profound words provides the basic formula for a better design: “If you want to understand function, study structure."
The structure of society currently revolves around centralized power.
Why?
Traditionally, every hierarchal structure has the majority of individuals at the base of a pyramid and one ruler at the apex of the pyramid. This is known as the “Pyramid of Power.” The Pyramid of Power represents hierarchical structures in society, organizations, or systems, where power concentrates at the top and diminishes downward. At the apex sit a few elite individuals or entities—think rulers, CEOs, or influential groups—holding disproportionate control over resources, decisions, or influence. Below them, layers of diminishing authority (e.g., managers, bureaucrats, or middle-class workers) execute or follow directives. The broad base represents the majority—workers, citizens, or subjects—with minimal power.
This model highlights inequality, centralized control, and how power flows top-down. The bigger the pyramid of power, the more powerful it becomes. As Individuals move up this pyramid of power, so they gain privileges and accumulate wealth. They also become unaccountable to those under them. But in order to move up the structure, they need to show loyalty to those above them. This subordinates the many to the few. It also tends to discard ethics and morality, which encourages corruption.
While the obvious answer is to decentralize this form of power into smaller pyramids of power, it is not enough.
Jonathan Swift famously said: “All government without the consent of the governed is the very definition of slavery.” But, consent by everyone, all of the time, is an impossible aspiration.
The result? Some of us will always be trapped in slavery while those that consent to be governed tolerate their lot in life.
When we consent to be governed, we understand that governments will use, or threaten to use, force to enforce their laws.
But what happens when governments break their own laws?
This has happened more than I care to remember. Look back to Covid-19 and identify how many laws were broken by governments worldwide.
Lockdowns!
Masks!
Social distancing!
Curfews!
And if they declare a “State of Emergency,” they give themselves carte blanche to break the law and disregard all of your rights all of the time. Once declared, politicians are extremely reluctant to end these states of emergencies.
How to step around this?
Except for our dealings with government and criminals, which involves the threat or actual use of force, all of our dealings with each other is based on voluntary interactions. This is the vast majority of our dealings, as most people have limited interaction with government and criminals.
If the vast majority of our dealings can happen without force, why do we need the threat of force when dealing with our own governments?
If we recognize that each and every one of us is a sovereign individual, there is no need to be governed to the degree we are governed. Plato once said: “Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws.”
I would go so far as to say that “Lobbyists” and “Politicians” are “bad people” that write laws to the advantage of the “Donor Class.” For example, the recent enthusiasm for “Global Public Private Partnerships” exemplify the very definition of “Fascism.”
This is also known as “Crony Capitalism,” which results in endless wars for the military-industrial complex, and endless pandemics for the medical-industrial-complex. All funded by the taxpayer, of course, to keep us as “Debt Slaves.”
Quite a successful economic formula for the parasite class to exploit us.
So why do we consent to be governed in the first place when we see endless wars and endless pandemics?
Are we stupid?
Are we just ignorant?
Perhaps we’re both stupid and ignorant.
If you think about it, when we consent to be governed, we authorize the government to use force to steal from us in order to bribe us to vote for them. They do this under the guise of offering us services.
But, do we really need government services? Aren’t governments notorious for being incompetent and corrupt. Surely there is a better way.
For a start, why not redefine our world by changing the meaning of the words we use?
Instead of agreeing to be governed by someone else, why not agree to govern ourselves?
How, you might ask?
First of all, we can minimize government and use “Direct Voting” to collectively agree on the services we need in our communities. The technology already exists for this to be done on our phones.
In effect, we could get rid of lobbyists and politicians in one move.
Instead of using compromised government services, we could use both private individuals and corporations to provide these services.
So how do we structure this?
If we turn the pyramid of power on its head, as illustrated below, we have a system that recognizes the “Will Of The People.”
In addition, and possibly more importantly, by replacing the word “government” with the word “services,” both Local and National Services, we remove the individual governing the many. Instead, the many govern the few and hold them accountable.
Who wouldn’t like to see accountability for some?
To fully understand the concept behind this structure, we must recognize that…
Individuals are sovereign beings;
Families are the support structures for Individuals;
Communities are the support structures for both Families and Individuals;
Local Services are provided to Communities, Families, and Individuals; and
National Services are also provided to Communities, Families, and Individuals.
If you consider the concept that “birds of a feather flock together,” you will probably agree that people will voluntarily move to communities that represent their values.
When new migrants move to the West, for example, they immediately gravitate towards communities that reflect their values. As new migrants take over neighbourhoods, the demographics shift, as the original occupants move out to neighbourhoods that have their shared values. While multiculturalism results in numerous ethnic enclaves and divided societies, it also represents an opportunity to restructure local communities to specific cultures.
Unfortunately, most people are so brainwashed into accepting the need for government, that we do need to encourage critical thinking.
In my next few articles, I’ll first explain the core problem that needs to be understood so it can be fixed. Once you understand the scope of the problem, I’ll explain how each of the different elements of the ParaGov Structure will move power back to “We the People” and fix the fundamental flaws of a Centralized Control System.
